Gates Mills Police Department

Proud to Serve…Sworn to Protect

From Your Police Department

This is certainly an unsettling time for all of us. I wanted to provide you with an update regarding how the police department will operate during this health emergency.  There will be no reduction in services the police department provides to the residents of Gates Mills.  We will need to make a few adjustments in order to safely work within the guidelines established by our national, state and local governments and health agencies.

Our officers and staff are implementing the practices of good hygiene and social distancing as suggested by the CDC and state and local departments of health.  The town hall will be closed to the public but will be staffed for a few hours each day.  I encourage you to take advantage of the online services available on the village website to add homes to the watch list etc.  You can call the town hall coordinators at 440-423-4405 or leave messages on the town hall voicemail and your calls will be returned as soon as possible.

If you need to file a report or speak to an officer about a NON-EMERGENCY issue, please call our dispatch center at 440-423-4456 and an officer will contact you promptly.   We will begin taking some reports over the phone in order to protect the health of both you and our officers.

Our department is a dedicated group of police officers who take their responsibility to our residents very seriously.  We have back up plans in place and mutual aid agreements with neighboring police departments in order to continue to serve our residents to the best of our ability.   Please be safe and follow all recommendations made by our governmental leaders and health departments. We will all get through this by working together.

Please remember that if you see anything unusual or if you observe something that just does not feel right, please immediately report it to the police department so we can have officers dispatched to investigate. It is the partnership between the community and the police that makes Gates Mills special.

Until next month – Proud to serve…Sworn to Protect

Yours in Service,

Gregg Minichello
