Letter from Mayor and Council

Dear Prospective Homeowner,

On behalf of Village Council, we welcome your interest in The Village of Gates Mills and hope that you will decide to make the Village your home.  Gates Mills was founded more than 180 years ago with two clusters of mills along the Chagrin River.  Today the Village is a unique blend of Western Reserve architecture, civic engagement and environmental sustainability, while conveniently located close to Cleveland and its many cultural amenities.  This combination makes Gates Mills one of the most desirable communities in Northeast Ohio.

Our residents pride themselves on their strong sense of community.  Many residents take advantage of opportunities to become involved in Village life and make new friends.  The Pink Sheet, the Village’s own monthly newsletter, keeps residents well informed about our holiday events and the activities of our community organizations, clubs and committees.

Gates Mills is part of the award winning and nationally acclaimed Mayfield City School District, and tucked away on Colvin Road is our own neighborhood elementary school with 120 students in Kindergarten through 5th grade.  Private and parochial school options are close by, as well.

The Gates Mills Mayor and Council are dedicated to maintaining the Village’s unique character and improving the lives of our residents, as are the Police, Fire and Service Departments.  Please call upon any of us to personally share with you our perspectives about the benefits of Village life for you and your family.  You can reach us at Village Hall:  440.423.4405.
