From Your Police Department:
We are exploring purchasing software for a new safety App for smart phone users. The App would provide you a one-button emergency link into our police dispatch center and allow for pinpoint accuracy of your location when calling. Other features would include allowing residents to receive mass notifications (similar to our Code Red system) and enable you to report any service or safety issues from your smart phone. If we move forward with this program, we will take time to educate all our residents, schools, and businesses on the functionality of the App. I will keep everyone posted on the progress.
From June 12 through June 16, for the fourth consecutive year, your Police and Fire Departments partnered with Gilmour Academy to provide Safety Town classes for two energetic groups of four and five year olds. The week-long curriculum incorporated hands-on activities addressing traffic safety, stranger safety, and fire safety. The program was a great success due to the efforts of Officers Suchetka and Strasshofer, Fire Chief Robinson, the Gates Mills Service Department and the staff at Gilmour Academy.
With the Fourth of July quickly approaching, here’s what you need to know about fireworks. The general public may purchase consumer fireworks from a licensed wholesaler or manufacturer, but those fireworks cannot be discharged anywhere in the State of Ohio. Ohio’s fireworks laws are written to protect people and promote safety. Failing to comply with these laws can result in devastating fires and catastrophic personal injuries. Enjoy your Fourth of July celebration, but leave the fireworks displays to the licensed professionals.
Have a great summer and I look forward to seeing everyone at the Fourth of July Parade and at the Band Concert!
Until next month – Proud to serve…Sworn to Protect
